This Privacy Policy explains how Stevin John and the team operating stevinjohn.com collect, use, and disclose information through this personal website, its newsletter signups, and its contact forms. For privacy questions or requests, email stevin@kideo.com. You can make a privacy request by email without subscribing to marketing.
Information collected
Information you provide. Newsletter forms collect your email address and subscription consent. Contact forms collect your name, email address, selected topic, message, and consent record. Please do not include passwords, payment details, medical information, or other sensitive information in a message.
Website and technical information. Hosting, security, and analytics services may process information such as your IP address, browser and device details, approximate location, referring website, pages visited, interactions, and timestamps. Cookies and similar technologies can distinguish browsers and help measure visits. Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store individual IP addresses.
How information is used
We use information to operate and secure this website, respond to inquiries, manage business communications, deliver requested email updates, measure website performance and email engagement, improve content, prevent abuse, and meet applicable legal obligations. Newsletter messages may include news, project and brand updates, marketing, offers, and selected partner features.
Google Analytics and cookies
This website uses Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to understand how visitors find and use the site. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information about website activity and the browser or device used. Reports may include page views, engagement, approximate geographic information, and traffic sources. We do not intentionally send the names, email addresses, or message text entered in our forms to Google Analytics.
Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, review Google’s Privacy Policy, and read about Google’s use of cookies.
Google Analytics audience and advertising features can support advertising measurement or remarketing when configured and enabled. If we enable these features, website activity may be used with linked Google advertising services to measure campaigns or show relevant ads, subject to the applicable settings, disclosures, and consent requirements. Installing an Analytics tag does not by itself mean an advertising campaign is running.
Your analytics and advertising choices
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Deleting cookies may reset stored preferences. Google offers an Analytics opt-out browser add-on for supported browsers. You can also review Google’s advertising preferences. Advertising preferences and the Analytics opt-out add-on control different uses of information; changing ad personalization settings does not necessarily stop Analytics measurement.
Where applicable law requires prior consent for nonessential cookies or advertising processing, that consent must be obtained separately. Reading this policy, browsing the site, or agreeing to email updates does not itself constitute consent to analytics or personalized advertising.
Newsletter and contact service providers
Kit. Kit processes newsletter subscriptions. When you submit a contact form, your email address and first name are also sent to Kit for the mailing list. Subscription source and technical information may accompany the signup. Email delivery, opens, and link interactions may be measured depending on the service settings and your email software. See Kit’s Privacy Policy.
Web3Forms. Web3Forms processes contact-form submissions and delivers messages to our inbox. The submitted name, email address, topic, message, consent record, and page source are included. The message text is not sent to Kit by our contact-form integration. See Web3Forms’ Privacy Policy.
Hosting and communications. Website hosting, content delivery, security, and email providers may process information to deliver the site, protect it against abuse, and handle communications. Providers’ use of information is governed by their applicable terms, privacy policies, and agreements.
Our forms currently require agreement to email updates to submit. The contact-form checkbox must be selected by the visitor; newsletter signup boxes may start selected and can be cleared. Additional details are in our Email Terms & Privacy. You can unsubscribe using the link in a marketing email. Unsubscribing does not prevent us from responding to an inquiry or retaining limited information to honor your opt-out.
Other disclosures and external links
Information may be disclosed to service providers assisting with the purposes described above, professional advisers, or authorities where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, and the security of the site. Links to social networks, businesses, videos, and other websites take you to services with their own privacy practices. Their policies apply when you visit them.
International visitors and legal bases
This website is operated from the United States. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate; privacy laws may differ from those in your country. Where applicable data protection law requires safeguards for international transfers, the relevant processing must use an appropriate lawful transfer mechanism.
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, the legal basis depends on the activity: consent for marketing and other processing requiring consent; legitimate interests in handling inquiries, administering and securing the site, and managing ordinary business communications where those interests are not overridden by your rights; steps requested before entering a contract where relevant; and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent without affecting the lawfulness of processing that occurred before withdrawal.
Retention and security
We retain information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, taking account of the type of information, service-provider settings, ongoing communications, legal requirements, and security needs. Limited subscription suppression records may be retained to prevent unwanted marketing. Analytics cookies and event records have separate retention periods governed by Google’s cookie behavior and the Analytics property settings.
We use reasonable measures to protect information, but no website, email, or storage system is completely secure. Please use care when deciding what information to send.
Your privacy rights
Depending on your location and the law that applies, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information; restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent; or opt out of certain advertising, sale, or sharing activities where applicable. Some rights are subject to exceptions. This policy does not assume every privacy law applies to this website.
Send requests to stevin@kideo.com with the subject “Privacy Request.” We may need information to verify your identity and understand your request. We will respond as required by applicable law. Where available, you may appeal a decision by replying with the subject “Privacy Appeal.” You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children’s information
This website provides information about Stevin’s work and life. Its newsletter and contact forms are intended for adults aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, email us so we can investigate and address it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the website or its practices change. The date at the top identifies the latest revision. Material changes that require additional notice or consent will be handled as required by applicable law.
